PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Organic borage oil is a clear, thin and dry oil with a slight yellow colour made from the pressed organic seeds of the borage plant. The clarity comes from the winterising process leaving a highly-refined oil with a lightweight texture. It is a dry oil, which absorbs super quickly and doesn’t leave any greasy or heavy feeling on the skin.
Organic borage oil has a strong natural odour with a slightly nutty scent to it, although this can be masked with essential oils if used in an oil-only blend. The odour is less noticeable when using organic borage oil in lotions.
It is an excellent idea to blend organic borage oil with thicker and heavier oils like castor oil, macadamia nut oil or shea butter oil to increase overall functionality and improve the skin’s sensorial feel.
Borage oil has an exceptionally high content of Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), which helps combat skin dryness, loss of suppleness and wrinkling. GLA is needed by the body to make prostaglandins which are an essential part of the repair and maintenance actions of the body. With good levels of GLA, the skin is more tolerant to sunlight daily, and the skin heals quicker.
The oil has 0.5% Vitamin E (Tocopherol) added as an antioxidant, reducing the potential oxidation of the organic borage oil while in the bottle. That Vitamin E is in sunflower seed oil to make the tocopherol pourable. This is the only way to ensure we have a potent and effective product which is quickly absorbed by the skin.
Organic borage oil is cold pressed, grown, and produced free of pesticides, fertilisers and GMOs.
